Youth Enrichment Programs is a comprehensive approach to reduce youth related crime activities and provide sustainable programs for youth in the Northeast area of Indianapolis.   YEP will provide a safety net of support for low-income teens to obtain a better quality of life and strive for entrepreneurship, leadership, and success.  One of the underlying themes of the program will be to work on uplifting the young adults in the area to speak on issues that relate to their everyday lives.   The second result will be presenting an avenue of opportunities to build their leadership abilities through advocating for change.   The last result is to build upon the synergy of youth’s innovative ideas and mold their skills, gifts, and talents into a lucrative venture that can ultimately provide income for their college tuition or funds to support their family or themselves.

EBU Teen Summit

The EBU summit puts young people in a creative environment where they can begin to express themselves, learn from each other, and discuss the social injustices they face daily. The teen summit will be hosted twice during the summer.  The first summit held in April will focus on money:

-Why do we need it?

- How do we get it?

-And what do we do with it once we get it?

Through these conversations, the youth will work to find and create ideas for making their own money….entrepreneurship.

Youth Leadership Facilitation

The YLF training will be held in May and is a leadership training development strategy designed by the Annie E. Casey foundation.  The primary focus is provide youth with facilitation skills, skills on how to lead meetings, and being constructive within group decision-making activities. The second focus is building leadership skills, public speaking skills, and how to speak on issues that relate to young adults.  The final focus is helping young adults understand how to get to the result of their desired outcome or initiative. This training requires 12 course hours.  Once a young adult completes this training they will be placed in a facilitation database where they can then be used to facilitate meetings that address the needs and understanding of youth.

 Entrepreneurship Training

The youth will receive a curriculum called EDGE- educational designs that generate excellence.  This curriculum will be presented in May and June and is a wide range of exciting, hands on programs that have entrepreneurship as their central theme.  The curriculum in the entrepreneurship as a catalyst to prepare young people for economic success.  It will teach them the value of employees, owning their own business, and encourage secondary education.  The curriculum is a 40-hour training, upon completion; the youth will have created a business plan. The next phase after the curriculum and business plan will be for the youth to discuss possible career fields of their interest.  EBU staff will provide presenters of the fields in interest to come and speak to the youth.

Entrepreneurship Event

EBU will foster the ideas and business plans of every youth that ascended from the entrepreneurship training.  During the month of July, the EBU staff will provide assist with equipment, supplies, and technical assistance to help the youth’s business start up plan.  The EBU staff will also host a Craft sale that will spotlight the youth businesses that arose out to the entrepreneurship training.  We understand that not all youth desire to become entrepreneurs, so we anticipate that some of the young entrepreneurs will hire their fellow youth.  During the month of August, EBU will assist the youth with their business and future goals during the school year.

EBU Teen Summit

The second summit will focus on community and public policy.  The youth will talk about what is going on in their community, identify a challenge, and discuss ways to create solutions to the problems they face in their everyday lives; this summit will take place in August.

Project Citizens

Project Citizens is a curricular focused on civic education.  This curricular program will start in September and is geared for middle and secondary student groups to promote participation in local and state government.  The program helps youth learn how to monitor and influence public policy.  The process can range from six weeks to one year depending on the needs of the youth.  Our youth will focus on a public policy that relates to their age group and work on a portfolio to present to local and government officials.  Project Citizen Program is administrators with the assistance of a national network of state and congressional district coordinators in every state and is conducted with the assistance of the National conference of state legislatures. 

Music Seminars

The Intro to Music seminar focuses on the history of music, how it started, and where it is going.  The Copywriting and Songwriter seminar focuses on understand the importance of the ASCAP, BMI, or like organizations.  This seminar will also focus on the techniques of songwriting. The Promotions, Marketing, and Advertising seminar will provide techniques and best practices on self-promotion through a stream of media outlets.  The Contract seminar will provide best information and legal advice on signing contracts, intellectual property, and being knowledgeable of negotiating your profitability.  The Signing to a Label seminar will be a showcase format.  The showcase format is a networking event that will consist of: A/R representatives, radio stations, secondary education, booking agencies, magazines, and potential clients interested in furthering their career in the music industry.

EBU Youth Parliament

EBU Youth Parliament is organized to bring youth together to work for positive change within their community. EBU Youth Parliament works to advise programs, organizations, government agencies, policymakers, and other individuals and groups. EBU Youth Parliament will work to educate and empower youth members to be leaders and advocate for positive change for their community.  The youth will be running a campaign to get elected for the position on the EBU Youth Parliament.  An Electon day will be choosen with  other youth experiencing how to vote.

We'll learn to setup and pre-roll, work with text, render, integrate Photoshop images, use transparency and alpha channels, use advanced motion techniques, and more.  InDesign CS5 is fast becoming the most popular way to layout pages, from brochures to advertisements.  Photography, Video, and Film allows you to learn primarily through independent experiment with forms of analog, digital, and electronic media.
